Here it is, almost April. I've got one month left in my current job position before Elder & Sage opens for business. While telling my current clients that I am leaving has been bittersweet, I am encouraged by all the well wishes and support they are giving me.
So, as I wrap up what I can with my current clients, encouraging them to stop in if they are ever in Grand Rapids, I find myself repeating a phrase over and over to each individual.
Times are crazy right now. Money is tight, everybody is busy. And although everyone wants to be healthy they have trouble committing to a full health program, or finding the time to do it. So my advice has been this: Just one thing. Find just one thing that you can do every day, every week, once a month, whatever. What is one thing that you can do to better your health? Make it easy, something that you couldn't possibly find an excuse not to do. Go for a walk once a week indoors or out for an unspecified amount of time. Take just one supplement regularly. Follow a diet plan for just one month and see how it benefits your health. Just one thing.
For me I chose to focus on drinking more water daily. So simple yet it was always something I lacked. I haven't set a goal, no specific amount of water.... just more. That's easy. No excuses.
Now the hard part, find somebody to hold you to it. For my clients I am that person. The coach, the cheerleader, the guide, the support., the sounding board. Their health is in my best interest so I am the one to make sure whatever their one thing is, they are doing it.
So the best advice I can give in these crazy times is just do one thing for your health and find someone to help you keep track. Whatever your issue is. One thing is better than doing nothing at all.
